Two wildfires in Francis Marion National Forest

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — There are currently two wildfires burning on the Francis Marion National Forest northwest of Charleston, according to officials. 
Smoke may be visible and dense at times. Watch for fire crews and law enforcement near Halfway Creek Road and Forest Service Roads 161 and 176 (near the entrance of the Wambaw Cycle Trail), and at the intersections of Buckle Island and Buckle Island Road B, according to the Forest Service.
 
Fire #1
The Cumbee Fire which is about approx. 500 plus acres with structures threatened. Resources are on the scene, which includes a helicopter and a dozer. The public is asked to watch for fire crews & engines south of Forest Service Road 161 and 176 at Halfway Creek Rd. Landmark near wildfire: Entrance of Wambaw Cycle Trail. 
 
Fire #2
The Pond Fire is approx. 3-5 acres with fire creeping. No structures threatened. Resources are on the scene. The Fire is near the intersections of Buckle Island Road and Buckle Island Road B. 
 
The cause of both fires are under investigation.
