The Florida Forest Service and local firefighters put out two brush fires Tuesday afternoon in the Treasure Coast before either could cause any serious damage.
A fire broke out at 12:48 p.m. in a grassy area near Interstate 95 and State Road 60 in Indian River County, just south of the CVS distribution center, said Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke.
About 8 acres burned before crews from Indian River County Fire Rescue and forestry officials extinguished the blaze, Kofke said.
Nothing was threatened, and the wildfire was 100 percent contained by 3:34 p.m., said Melissa Yunas, spokeswoman for the Forest Service.

The cause is under investigation.
At 12:27 p.m., downed power lines sparked a 1-acre grass fire off Orange Avenue, west of South Header Canal Road, Yunas said.
Nothing was threatened, and the St. Lucie Fire District and forestry officials contained the fire by 1:57 p.m., Yunas said.
Fire dangers were forecast to be low to moderate Tuesday in the Treasure Coast.
