FAIRFIELD — A Bay Area emergency relief fund has awarded the Workforce Development Board of Solano County a $500,000 grant to assist people adversely affected by the October wildfires.
“More than 1,700 Solano County residents became displaced workers because of the North Bay wildfires, representing about 10 percent of Solano’s daily (commuters to) Sonoma and Napa counties,” according to a statement released Tuesday by the county administrator’s office.
“Over the next 18 months, the (workforce board) will use the grant funding to help displaced workers with new job connections, assisted business development and skills training,” the statement said.
The grant was awarded by Tipping Point Community, a Bay Area nonprofit organization, to help those injured by the fires.
