ESPANOLA, N.M. (KRQE) - As wildfire season ramps up, fire officials are reminding the public to not fly drones over wildfires.
According to forestry officials, air tankers were forced to ground on Monday because of a drone flying in their airspace.
They say it halted efforts to fight the Chicoma fire on Monday.
Officials say anytime a drone is spotted near the fire, all aircraft are forced to land and the fire can get an advantage over crews.
