Wildfires spreading towards I-75, threatening buildings in Collier County

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -

Wildfires are impacting those in Collier County as tens of thousands of acres are burning throughout the area on Saturday.

In total, the fires have burned through nearly 70,000 acres and is threatening 57 structures, according to the Southern Area Incident Management Gold Team.

Expect smokey conditions throughout the weekend, and if you plan on traveling over Alligator Alley, expect delays, the North Collier Fire Rescue District said. The fires are impacting portions of I-75.

Flamingo and Bazzard has seen significant growth within the last couple of days.

A smoke advisory may go into effect on Saturday night depending on conditions.

The forecast is calling for significant rainfall beginning Sunday and trending that way throughout next week, which should bring relief to the firey conditions.
