EVERGREEN, CO -- Two small wildfire outbreaks near Evergreen and Conifer caused no injuries Thursday.
In Conifer, another fire burned at least a half acre Thursday afternoon near Pleasant Park and Silver Bear Roads, Jacob Ware, deputy Elk Creek Fire Dept. fire chief told the Canyon Courier. Departments from Elk Creek, Evergreen and North Fork fire departments were responding as of Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters were hiking to the fire site on paths. "Access is difficult" tweeted the Elk Creek Fire Department. The smoke could be seen for miles and the fire was dubbed the #vikingfire.

Evergreen Fire and Rescue reported a one-tenth of an acre wildfire in Bergen Peak Wilderness Area. Fourteen Evergreen firefighters and staff from the U.S. Forest service got the blaze under control with the help of 10 water-drops from a USFS helicopter, the EFR crew tweeted.
"Fire is out; still have a smoldering stump putting off smoke. EFR will monitor tonight/tomorrow," the EFR tweeted.
