Local companies making holidays bright for kids impacted by California wildfires - KATU

Many kids affected by wildfires in Northern California will still get to open presents this Christmas, thanks in part to Portlanders giving back this holiday season.

Several local businesses dropped off toys at Portland Fire Station #1 on Monday. They will be delivered south to those impacted by the Camp Fire before Christmas.

One marketing agency was already running a toy drive, but stepped it up when they heard that even more kids needed something to smile about this season.

“We have a young employee force and we really enjoy getting out in the communities. And our employees feel great that we can do something as a company and help our local community and families and children,” said Adam Schwartz, the culture operations specialist with Logical Position.

The "Toy and Joy Makers" program has been running for 104 years.

Last year they gave out more than 6,800 toys to more than 1,700 kids.
