as we inch closer and closer to fire season, local ranchers say there's one prevention method that is not getting used enough. wild horses that can eat fire fuels. in a story you'll only see here tonight, newswatch 12's emma balkenbush tells us why they say it's a plan that will save lives without hurting your wallet. [a13]wild horses and fire-stinger emma says, "bill and laura simpson tell me they've been taking care of and protecting these horses for a two way street since these horses help protect their land and lives fromw wildfires." "we don't have to spend money, they do this for free." he says it's a protection unlike any other. "with as much grass and brush as we're seeing from the lack of deer, we're gonna continue to have these outrageous fires." that's where these guys come in. natural grazing, wild horses. "they're logical, they're practical and we happen to have 48 thousand of them sitting in a corral right now at the forest serivce, us blm and forest service corrals." he says getting them out in the forests is the answer, where they won't cost taxpayers anything while helping reduce fuels. britt ivy boice says it's already costing millions to keep them in corrals, so why not put them to work? she believes it's another level of live-saving protection the region desperately needs.
